| Spatial Numerical Association Of Response Codes(SNARC), received the widespread attention since found. It means that the buttons located in the left side of the body related to the rapid response of small numbers. And the buttons located in the right side of the body related to the rapid response of big numbers. However a lot of study related to the SNARC effect researched from the perspective of information processing and analysis, a few of study explore from the cognitive perspective. And the embodied cognition also has been under the spotlight in recent years. Embodied Cognition view play an important role in the cognitive process. Body movement experience closely related to the intrinsic and abstract psychological and cognitive process. Speaking of Spatial Numerical Association of Response Codes, what is the influence of the embodied cognition. There are lot of parts of body can bring embodied cognition. This paper choose the arms as the research object for two reasons. On the one hand, the embodied cognition widely appeared on the movement of the hand. On the other hand, most of previous studies were focus on finger counting, but no one explore the effect of entire arm joint space- digital coding. This study used oral random number report generation paradigm. Collect the number of small number that participants has reported, compare the differences between single arm and double arm in the same or different motion directions through three experiments. Firstly with the condition that all the subjects raised both arms forward, Collect the oral report random numbers situation of baseline. In experiment 1, participants move there left arm to left with right arm not moved, participants move there right arm to right with lift arm not moved. Left arm movements were more likely to report small numbers, right arm movement is opposite, showing a SNARC effect. In experiment 2, participants move both arms to left, both arms to right, arms cross, arms open. Both arms move to lift were more likely to report small numbers and both arms move to right were more likely to report big numbers, showing a SNARC effect. But when participants arms crossed or arms open there was no SNARC effect. In experiment 3, participants move both arms downward, move both arms upward. Both arms move downward were more likely to report small numbers and both arms move upward were more likely to report big numbers, showing a SN ARC effect. The main conclusions of this study are:(1) There was a SNARC effect show up when single arm move to left or right.(2) There was a SNARC effect show up when both arms move to left or right.(3) There was no SNARC effect show up when both arms cross or open.(4) Compared the single arm movement with the both arms movement. Therewas no significant difference between the degree of SNARC effect.(5) There was a SNARC effect show up when both arms move downward or upward. This study further confirmed the arm movement influence on the SNARC effect. |
