Apparel is closely associated with people’s daily life. A large amount of Chinese vocabularies are derived from apparel,and play a very important role in Chinese.TCFL(Teaching of Chinese as a foreign language) has always been a research emphasis in the field of pedagogy of language. A lot of different language teaching methods have been proposed aiming at different teaching objects and teaching stages, and all of them get some very excellent effects. However, the study of vocabularies in some fields are not adequate in TCSL so far. Based on previous and comprehensive Chinese studies, this article that takes the clothes vocabularies as the objects of research presents two different methods which are inherent morpheme teaching method(IMTM) and network associative teaching method(NATM).By delicately studying these two teaching methods, this article will not only provide a specific teaching method for clothes vocabularies, but also furnish a reference for other vocabulary teaching in TCSL.This article contains six parts.The first part is abstract which contains the background and meaning of selected topic,the review of the current situation of related studies and lastly the study methods and selected corpora.The second part contains the clothes vocabularies mainly focusing on dresses and accouterments,and briefly describe these two kinds of vocabularies.Then by using structure analysis method,the article classifies the types of clothes vocabularies.The third part uses the traditional rhetorical method to analysis the rhetorical mode of clothes vocabularies,and concludes two rhetorical method which are metaphor and metonymy. In the way of investigation, the rhetorical devices of clothes vocabularies establishes on particular cultural connotations.The fourth part describes the cultural connotations of clothes vocabularies. By studying clothes vocabularies, we could understand the sense of social hierarchy, aesthetic conception and the thought patterns.The fifth part proposes the teaching methods for clothes vocabularies that are IMTMand NATM. By comparing the superiority of these two methods, and according to teaching method and clothes vocabularies, we can present particular teaching approaches.The sixth part is conclusion which summaries the main points and results of this article and raises these two method as reference for other kinds of vocabularies.
