As part of China’s educational development and rise in international research regarding language and education, Chinese studies have inevitably reached some countries in the middle East. Jordan, being a relatively open and liberal country with good relations to China has become a pivotal partner in the exchange of language studies between the two countries. Jordan’s international studies rapid development has given Chinese studies an opportunity as well. Sino-Jordanian relations in terms of education have long been at their high. Many schools in Jordan have been offering Chinese classes in order to help Jordanian people get a better understanding of the Chinese language as well as Chinese culture. This has also led to the establishment of many Confucius Institutes. However, the rise of popularity and the development of Chinese studies in Jordan has also encountered quite a few problems. This article examines the history of Chinese studies in Jordan as well as the current state of Chinese studies in the country. The article presents an analysis of Chinese studies majors in Jordan’s Universities. After examining the current situation the article offers suggested ways to tackle the problems. The research on which this article is based strives to provide a helpful guide to Jordanian students interested in Chinese studies on how to facilitate their abilities in the best way possible in order to ensure the best results as well as to help place Chinese studies departments and staff in a stronger position.
