Prisoners are a special group of society, from previous studies we found that prisoners’ child abuse, alexithymia situation is much worse than normal population, and these psychological problems are often overlooked.Children who were maltreated in childhood cause cognitive and emotional problems, and these problems lead to further problems worse than before, ie,likely to lead to criminal behavior. At present, there is little study for the relationship of prisoners’ alexithymia, child abuse and coping styles, so this study will focuse on exploring their relationship, and make a try to intervene prisoners’ alexithymia symptom. The first study used "Toronto Alexithymia Questionnaire"(TAS-20), "Simplified Coping Style Scale" and "Child Abuse Questionnaire"(CTQ-SF) to investigate 300 prisoners; Through qualitative research methods, the second study try to understand specific situation of alexithymia, coping style and childhood abuse, and analysis their relationship; The third study used drawing and narrative psychotherapy to intervene prisoner’s alexithymia symptom. The first study found that:(1)there is a high proportion of alexithymia in prisoners; prisoners have a tendency to respond positively; there is a certain phenomenon of child abuse in prisoners, and mainly based on emotional and physical neglect.(2) The prisoners’ alexithymia affected by childhood abuse experiences, the more severe the childhood abuse was, the more serious the alexithymia problem is; and prisoners who have high score of alexithymia are easier to use negative coping style;(3) alexithymia’s two factors--can not recognize mood and express emotion partially mediated between childhood abuse and coping styles. The second study found that:(1) the extent of childhood abuse and alexithymia of prisoners are more serious, and most of them take passive coping style.(2)Negative coping style relates with alexithymia.(3) prisoner’s negative coping style related with childhood abuse experience, but not a direct result of it,in fact, childhonnd abuse through alexithymia affect negative coping style. The third study found that: Painting and narrative psychotherapy intervention counseling can help prisoners reducing the degree of alexithymia, getting more positive coping style. Conclusion: The prisoners’ alexithymia between prisoners’ negative coping and childhood abuse partially mediated. Painting and narrative psychotherapy counseling intervention help prisoners reduce alexithymia symptom. Finally, a combination of different theories on the research results are discussed, pointing out the research deficiencies and propose future research prospects.
