With the adoption ofthe Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritageby UNESCO in October 2003, safeguarding the intangible culturalheritage has caused great concern among the international society. As a repository of our nation’s values, thinking modes, creative expression and cultural awareness, the intangible cultural heritage is an essential component in maintaining our cultural identity and cultural sovereignty. So protecting the intangible cultural heritage is not only rooted in our nation’s development, but also necessary for the cooperation among the international community and sustainability of the human race. In this sense, the translation of relevant texts is vital for further research and the presentation, transmission and preservation of the intangible cultural heritage.Based on the theories of reception aesthetics, the author of this paper, taking texts on Rudong’s intangible cultural heritage as an example, conducts a study on the C-E translation of texts on the intangible cultural heritage in terms of words, sentences and figures of speech.
