Relations Between Neo-Intellectuals And Development Of Northern Shaanxi Society (1900-1935)

Salvation and development were two major targets in modern China, which consumed countless warriors’lives. Neo-Intellectuals played a leading role in modern China as a special group. They were not only heralds of neo-ideologies, but executed them in practice for our nation. The thesis intends to focus on Northern Shaanxi where is significant for modern China’s revolution based on the specificity of regional culture and study the relations between neo-intellectuals and development of Northern Shaanxi society in 1900-1935 from 4 aspects with the combination of criticism and history. It is to unscramble the history and explore how Northern Shaanxi culture constructs and influences neo-intellectuals’values and ideas in a new perspective. And then it will emphasize on the role of neo-intellectuals in social reform, economic development and educational progress of Northern Shaanxi, distinct how they lead and promote social development and reform and reflect their era significance and social value.In the first section, it introduces concepts of neo-intellectuals in Northern Shaanxi systematically, demonstrates the circumstances under special regional culture they were in and classifies the historical stages. The second section has systematically investigated the reform and development of modern Northern Shaanxi by studying neo-intellectuals’contributions in the most representative realms which are politics, economics and education. The third section studies neo-intellectuals’ influences to Northern Shaanxi society and explores their causes from the aspects of their roles, values and sentiments. The fourth section reflects the value of neo-intellectuals in contemporary society to assure that they as the "social conscience" and "eyes of era" are always the key roles to construct advanced social culture, mould main value and promote the progress of civilization.Neo-intellectuals are key roles for national revival as the main force of contemporary social development. It is conducive for constructing advanced culture and value and promoting the development of contemporary society regularly to guide intellectuals to be independent and righteous, main and play their advancement, stimulate their consciousness to undertake social responsibilities, and manifest their public ethical spirit.
