Chinese Character Teaching is the key point and difficult problems of the Chinese learing,but Pictophonetic Character is an important part of Chinese Characters. Chinese teaching in Thailand is concentrated in listening and speaking instead of Chinese Characters. How to learn Chinese characters has became a challenge for both Chinese language teachers and learners. Master and learn strategies mean master the learning tool. And it will effectively improve the efficiency of learning. The paper conducts investigations of learning strategies for pictophonetic characters. Based on the pictophonetic character learning of student in Phanphittayakom school. We intend to help both learning and teaching Chinese characters in Thailand.Based on reading plenty of literature, chapter one expounds the reason of choosing topic and cited relevant research results of both home and abroad.In chapter two, the paper gives a brief introduction of condition for teaching Chinese in Phanphittayakom school, which author teached, in Thailand.The third chapter describes the object of study, research materials and research methods.In chapter four, author collected questionnaires and strategies scale. After the phonetic word test for students, we did statistics. Combined with the actual teaching condition, the paper analyzed command of learning strategies and learning result of pictophonetic character for students in Phanphittiyakom school. The paper discovered that affective strategies in the most commonly learning strategy used by students. The least is application strategy. As for the frequency of using learning strategies, frequency of students of HSK 4 is generally higher than those of HSK3.In chapter 5 is Epilogue.
