The Chinese idiom is the great crystallization of the Chinese nation, with strong Chinese historical and cultural heritage. The teaching of idioms as a special part of vocabulary teaching is very important in foreign language teaching. If the foreign students can learn idioms well, not only can improve their daily communication and writing ability, but also can in-depth understanding of the Chinese culture connotation, and then they can really learn Chinese well.And why idioms are difficult for foreign students, which kind of errors is most prone when they use idioms, what is the cause of the errors,these problems are all we need to discuss.This paper selects the senior foreign students of Yunnan University foreign students college and Kunming University of Science and Technology International college’482 compositions from the public Chinese courses and part of the comprehensive course’s final exam and homework as the natural language material samples.and doing investigating and statistical analyzing.The author sent questionnaires to four universities (Yunnan University, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, Yunnan Normal University, Kunming University of Science and Technology)’s senior foreign students, and the questionnaires including the idiom test for foreign students. The author will comprehensive analysis the above two types of data, and regard the two kinds of corpus as the research basis, in order to carry out research on Four Kunming Universities’senior foreign students using idioms error analysis. By summing up the error phenomenon of using idioms, analysis the causes of errors, and then combine with the interview of five teachers, come up with teaching suggestions which is aiming at the reason of error.This thesis is divided into six parts:The first part:introduction, discusses the topic source, research purpose and significance, research ideas and methods.The second part:the overview of Chinese idioms, from idioms’ three aspects of definition, origin and classification to make a overall overview of idioms.The third part:about the survey research with the senior foreign students using idioms. Illustrate the source of the corpus, analyzed and did data statistics with the senior foreign students using idioms’error in their composition corpus, make the collected errors are divided into four categories(written form, semantics, grammar, pragmatics). At the same time, also explain, statistics and analysis with the questionnaire.The fourth part:specific analyze about the reasons of foreign students using idioms’error, combined with the type of statistics of errors from four Kunming senior colleges and universities foreign students in the use of idioms, from four aspects(the characteristics of idioms, the effect of foreign students learning strategies, the reasons with teaching, and the cause of teaching materials of the dictionary) analyzed the causes of errors.The fifth part:aiming at the reason of error to do the analysis, suit the remedy to the case, and put forward the corresponding teaching strategies and suggestions.The sixth part:conclusion, make a summary to the full text, rethink shortcomings of this paper.This paper hope that foreign language teachers can attach importance to teaching Chinese as a foreign language in the teaching, using the effective methods to teaching, to help foreign students overcome fear of difficulty. The foreign students also have to pay attention to Chinese idioms and autonomously learn idioms well, expertly using idioms in their study and daily life.
