The development of ancient Yunnan traffic can be divided into three stages, the pre Q in Dynasty to Han Jin period for the opening stage, Nanzhao and Dali period are the perfecting stage, Yuan Ming and Q ing Dynasties entered the development stage of the comprehensive opening. Since the Yuan Dynasty, Yunnan as a province to the transport network formally incorporated into the national transportation system is an important part of the national transport network. The development, trend and application of traffic roads have a significant impact on the change of Yunnan’s frontier. The new road traffic makes the state power continuously from the hinterland to the mainland near the Yunnan border ethnic areas deeply. The Empire State under the help of traffic through political, economic, cultural and other aspects will continue to promote the process of the mainland in the border areas of Yunnan, and ultimately makes the situation of Yunnan as the mainland.
