A Study On The Time Distribution And Space Distribution Of Jinshi In Liangzhe Area Of Song Dynasty

Dynasty Song is the important period for the development and perfection of the imperial examination system in Chinese history; and its talents selecting scale is also far bigger than that of other dynasties. The economy of Liangzhe Area in Song Dynasty was developed and the culture was prosperous, the development of imperial examination system was very typical among the various areas of the country. The quantity of Jinshi talents had been ranked the first. In the Northern and Southern Song Dynasty, there were totally 9029 Jinshi coming from Liangzhe Area who gained awarded the honor by their examination results, accounting for 21.32% of that of Song Dynasty, and taking the lead among the various areas. In the paper, based on the development background of imperial examination system in Liangzhe Area in Song Dynasty, the Jinshi situation of Liangzhe Area, the time and special distribution features and the causes leading to such features are discussed.The paper is composed of 5 parts. The first part is an introduction, presenting the contents such as origin of title selection, academic history, and research method etc. The academic circle pays special attention to the research of imperial examination system of Song Dynasty, and there appeared some research results from the microcosmic angle of view.The second part introduces the development of imperial examination system of Liangzhe Area of Song Dynasty. First of all, the development and perfection performance of the imperial examination system of Song Dynasty is introduced. The talents selecting scale of Song Dynasty is far bigger than before. The talents selection policy had become more equitable. The examination subjects and content also change several times. Secondly, the development performance of imperial examination system of Liangzhe Area is introduced, covering two aspects:the increase of quantity of Jinshi and the extension of distribution area of Jinshiin Liangzhe Area. Thirdly, the reason of continuous development of imperial examination system of Liangzhe Area is introduced. The change of government is the external condition that imperial examination system of Liangzhe Area continued developing. the Liangzhe Area owns a solid economic base, developed cultural and educational business. And the families of Liangzhe Area of Song Dynasty attach importance to education and imperial examination. These are the internal reasons of continuous development of imperial examination system of Liangzhe Area.The third part analyzes the time distribution and features of Jinshi in Liangzhe Area of Song Dynasty. In aspect of time distribution, there were more Jinshi in Southern Song Dynasty than Northern Song Dynasty, with obvious continuity and growth in time distribution. The factors including change of political situation of Liangzhe Area, change of talents selection policy, implementation and adjustment of quota system, southern migration of northern population after "Jiangkang Change" etc. are all the important causes for time distribution features of Jinshi inLiangzhe Area of Song Dynasty.The fourth part analyzes the space distribution and features of Jinshi in Liangzhe Area of Song Dynasty. In Northern Song Dynasty, there were more Jinsh in the west area than the east area. In Southern Song Dynasty, there were more Jinshi in the east area than the west area. In Northern Song Dynasty, the imperial examination center located at Taihu Plain, and moved to the coastal area in South Dynasty. The space distribution of Jinshi in Song Dynasty shows unbalance of areal distribution and mobility of distribution center of Jinshi. Education is the main factor that affects the area distribution of Jinshi in Liangzhe Area of Song Dynasty. The areal economic development level, the immigration of northern population and other factors also have certain influence to the space distribution of Jinshi in Liangzhe Area of Song Dynasty.The fifth part is a conclusion that summarizes the thought of the whole paper. The time and space distribution features of Jinshi in Liangzhe Area of Song Dynasty coincide with the clue of academic development of Liangzhe Area of Song Dynasty. The imperial examination center and academic center of Liangzhe Area of Song Dynasty located in the west area in Northern Song Dynasty and in the east area in Southern Song Dynasty. The development of imperial examination system and the academic development are interrelated.
