On The E-C Translation Of Sci-tech Texts From The Perspective Of Model Of Text Analysis

As the new technology revolution wave sweeps the world, international exchange in science and technology and cooperation between China and other foreign countries and regions have strengthened and increased. Sci-tech documents keep flowing into China and obviously translation of English for science and technology (EST) is playing a very important and irreplaceable role. However, the study of translation of EST is still lacking in depth, and the practice is lacking in theoretical guidance.In recent years, Nord’s Model of Text Analysis has received a lot of attention in the field of translation studies. Domestic scholars and researchers apply it to many different fields of translation except for the study of EST translation. And the study of petroleum industry English from the perspective of Text Analysis Model is hardly conducted. In view of this, this paper attempts to apply the Model of Translation-oriented Text Analysis to the study of EST translation. Based on this Theory, the present thesis, taking the translation of petroleum industry English the author did as a case study, discusses the preparatory work, the translation process and after-translation work, analyzes the extra-textual factors, the intra-textual factors and summarizes the translation methods and techniques of such texts. Handbook of Petroleum Processing, published by a famous publishing company "Springer-Verlag New York Inc.", describes and discusses the features that make up the petroleum refining industry, which is very professional and of important guiding significance.With the guidance of the text analysis model, translation strategies such as instrumental translation and documentary translation are used to solve the difficulties in the translation process. It is hoped that this research can help improve the quality of EST translation and throw fresh insight into the study of EST translation.
