C-E Translation Of Construction And Engineering Text From The Perspective Of Semantic Translation And Communicative Translation Theory

Construction engineering text translation account for a large proportion in Chinese-English translation, and it belongs to application and technology translation, which is of great practical significance.China’s comprehensive national strength and international competitiveness is increasing greatly, and the construction industry is developing rapidly. Under such a background, more and more Chinese construction enterprises are going abroad to participate in international competition.The translation project of this paper comes into being under this context. Tn addition, a standardized and strict construction engineering text can not only make clear the rights and obligations of both sides, but also protect the interests of relevant parties. Furthermore, it can also clearly state the construction engineering construction management, main content, plan and schedule and etc. Therefore, systematical analysis of the text type and characteristics, the exploration and discussion of the principles and translation techniques can contribute to the better translation of the construction engineering text in the future.This paper will regard the author’s translation of the construction engineering text Construction Management Plan, as the study object. And Newmark’s theory such as the text type and function, semantic translation and communicative translation theory will be the theoretical foundation of this paper. In accordance with those theories, the translation principle of the construction engineering text will be introduced, and the translation methods will be analyzed. The construction engineering text mainly belongs to the informative text and expressive text, has informative function and expressive function. So, semantic translation and communicative translation strategies should be applied flexibly. This paper will analyze the application of semantic translation and communicative translation strategy from the perspective of vocabulary and syntax, and analyze the translation methods with specific example.
