A Report On The Translation Of Engineering Contract Under The Guidance Of Semantic Translation And Communicative Translation

This is a Chinese-English translation practice of engineering contract,which was entrusted by Suzhou Mingda Municipal Engineering Construction Co.,LTD.Based upon the translation of the engineering contract,the author of the report discusses methods of the translation of contracts under the guidance of semantic translation and communicative translation.The report covers five chapters,including the introduction to the translation,the whole translation process,literature review and case analysis.And the conclusion is written in the end of the report.Firstly,the introduction to the translation task and the source text and the description of the translation process are made.Secondly,studies on the semantic translation and communicative translation and contracts are stated in the literature review,which includes Newmark's text typology.Thirdly,the translator discusses the application of semantic translation and communicative translation based upon examples in the translation in case analysis.Guided by the semantic translation,the translator determines to study it from perspectives of sentence structure and reproduction of the meaning of words.Meanwhile,the translator also adopts such strategies as conversion,combination and so on under the guidance of communicative translation to make the translation more readable and fluent Finally,the translator also describes gains from the translation and limitations of the translation in the end of the report.
