The Contradiction Between Conservative And Innovative: Ding Ling’s Literary View When She Edited The Literary Journal Named Chinese

The research object of this paper is Ding Ling when she edited the literary journal named Chinese. Through study the literary activities which she establish and be the editor in chief of Chinese, we will analyze the contradictory literary views of Ding Ling in this period.The main content of this paper divide into three parts, the first part discusses Ding Ling’s activities about establishing the Chinese. Though she experienced many difficulties when she founded Chinese, Ding Ling never give up and still keep her determination and courage, which reflects that Ding Ling determined to break through the obstacles in 1980s through Chinese, and stepped onto the new road of literature by the unique proposition, and practice her literary ideals.The second part analyzes Ding Ling’s literature opinion in Chinese. From overall style of Chinese, the literary journal is young, radical and enlightenment which was outstanding reflected in the trendy poetry and the exploratory novels. From literature which Ding Ling directly checked and the editor’s point of view by she wrote, we can see that she shows the appreciation and support to the new authors. From the reasons that she established the Chinese, we can get that she desire to re-engage in literary production system and lead the literary trend. In short, when Ding Ling was the editor in chief of Chinese, she was enterprising, abided by the freedom of literary creation, and kept to the internal rules of literature and literary aesthetic.The third part compares the opinions when Ding Ling sponsored Chinese and the speeches in public to find the contradiction of her literary view. Mainly including these: sticking to the opinion of "literature for politics" between abiding by the freedom of literary creation; promoting national form between supporting modernist literature dumbly; praising the Communist Party and social between exposing dark reality. These contradictions illustrate that Ding Ling in this period try her best to hold on her literary ideals, and fit in the difficult reality.To sum up, Ding Ling’s case helps us to deliberate how the literary system and literary sectarianism influence the writer.
