| In verbal communication, there is one way of using certain language, to express the emotions and objective things in some events, situations, others’ attitudes, or the surrounding environment, which is called tone. And in order to achieve this kind of performance, using modal particles is an important technique. These words are highly used in the dialogue, but the meaning of these modal particles is broad, flexible and not fixed. Therefore, it has been the important and difficult parts in the study of language.This paper consists of five chapters:The introductory chapter mainly introduced the research purpose of this paper, the research methods and sources of literature, and give the definition of the object and the study scope in this paper. Also, there is a summary analysis of "modal particles". During this research process, most study are aimed to mandarin and fewer research for modal particles in Taiwan mandarin. In the end, much less articles are allusion to compare these two Chinese language.The second chapter focus on the usage of common modal particles in different sentient patterns in mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese, such as a’啊’, ne’呢’, ba’å§â€™, o’ 哦’, although they are spelled the same, but there are many difference of tone and semantically in the concrete into the sentence. At the same time we can see very obvious tone features of modal particles in Taiwan mandarin, such as la’啦’,ye’耶’and lo’喽’. These three modal particles are the representative of’Taiwan characteristic language’ because we rarely used in mandarin, most of the usage is dialect. Using these modal particles has their own way in two sides, also have some different for different people, different regions of the user.In the third chapter, we analyzed the special modal particles on both sides.’Special’ means the use of these words clearly represents the local language features. In Chinese mandarin, we choose three popular modal particles recently as our research object, which are mie’咩’,nie’æâ€™,di’滴’. And we select ei’欸’,hou’é½â€™in mandarin Taiwanese. In this chapter, through the analyze for several modal particles respectively, we summarized different tone meaning which they are expressed.Chapter four mainly sums up the characteristics of modal particles, and compares the multitude who use the modal particles. The majority of population in Mainland who use the modal particles are youth, and they are willing to accept new things. Besides, the using frequency of different gender is not the same. Moreover, modal particles are widely used on the Internet. Even the Internet has become the first stop of the newly Mandarin tone word. Nevertheless, with its unique characteristics, Taiwan characteristic language has a wider using population. Because the impact of geographical and historical factors, the Southern Fujian Dialect has a deep influence on Mandarin Taiwanese. Finally, this chapter also analyzes and summarizes the current situation and the reasons of this difference.In the final chapter, we conclude all the research findings and innovations of this paper and point out the inadequacies requiring reparation. |
