The Study On The Speech Act Of Speculation In Chinese

The speculation refers to the uncertainly conclusions by reasoning the unknown things, which was made by speakers relying on objective evidence or subjective imagination. The conclusion in the real world may be true or false, even difficult to judge true or false. The speech act of speculation in Chinese is a common linguistic phenomenon and a speech act that used frequently. Traditional linguistics focused on the significance of the grammar and semantic, which were reflected in modal, adverbs and parenthesis and so on. In order to study the means of expression, the discourse structure and pragmatic intention,this paper investigated lots of relational previous studies and corpus.The speculative verbs, speculative modal particles, speculative adverbs, speculative parenthesis and auxiliary verbs are the means of expression.There are four constituents in the speech act of speculation.Preceding words and add words are auxiliary components, speculate basis and speculate conclusion are core components. The speculate conclusion is essential part. According to the case of the four parts in sentences, I summarize basic mode, simple mode, complicated mode and some other variational modes.The speech act of speculation is an indirect speech act. The speakers often hope to achieve some other pragmatic intentions,such as the comfort, the fear, the rejection, the persuasion, the praise, the dissatisfaction and so on.By describing and analyzing, counting and concluding a large of corpus, this paper studies the speech act of speculation comprehensively and systematically. This study helps to understand the speech act of speculation from a new angle.
