Creativity refers to individuals to produce novel and valuable ideas or products, it is the pillar of the social development, affecting all aspects of human life. In this field, different scholars focus on different aspects, such as exploring the cognitive process of creativity, the domain-specificity or the domain-generality and which is the dominant hemisphere. The research method of creativity mainly includes psychological measurement and experimental research. Part of the researches use the language as its carrier, and the other part use the graphics as the carrier. A lot of research achievements have been made in the field of behavioral science, brain functional imaging and neuropsychological. But the neural mechanism research of graphic creativity is still in its infancy, and because there are still differences or problems in experiment task design, creativity score method and data analysis, results and conclusions of existing research have large differences. It is difficult for us to construct a scientific theoretical system according to the existing experimental data. In addition, the lack of considering personality traits also makes the results difficult to build a complete theoretical framework of creative. In view of the above problems, we designed 2 experiments and used the functional near infrared imaging technology (fNIRS),a more rigorous scoring method, a more precise time window and a more pure data to investigate the brain mechanism of graphic creativity and its relationship with the personality traits. In Experiment 1, we recruited 42 healthy college students as the research objects. In order to ensure a more accurate time window and a more rigorous scoring method, we used functional near infrared imaging technology, thus can recorded the brain signal and behavior reaction at the same time when objects was completing creative tasks. In order to obtain a more pure data,in data analysis, we examined the brain signal differences between creative conditions and non creative differences,at the same time distinguish the highly creative performance and the low creativity performance, creative activities that due to recall and creative activities that induced by our experiment. It was found that the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (BA46), right inferior frontal gyrus triangular (BA45), bilateral orbital frontal cortex (BA11) are important brain regions for graphics creative activity. These brain regions may play an important role in the selection of memory information and inhibit non novelty information, which suggests that attention and cognitive control ability help individuals to produce more creative ideas. In Experiment 2, we selected 24 healthy college students as the research subjects (after screening data, deleting subjects in experiment 2). In order to provide the experimental basis for the establishment of a complete theoretical framework of creativity the relationship between personality traits (openness) and graph creativity was investigated using a more pure data at the behavioral and brain levels. It was found that the relationship between oxygen changes in right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (BA46) and the openness score are significantly positively correlated, we deduced that the free associative function of the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (BA46) may play an important role in this relationship. In addition, when subjects completed the graphic creative tasks, there was a significant positive correlation between the blood oxygen changes in many brain regions of prefrontal (such as bilateral triangular, bilateral in the frontal cortex, bilateral corner region) and the Williams creativity test scores, proving that our graphic creativity test has high reliability and validity, which can represent the creative level of the subject. In summary, this study aims to use a more accurate time window, a more rigorous scoring method and more pure data to examine the brain mechanism of graphic creative. As we have assumed, the attention ability, cognitive control ability of the prefrontal play an important role in graphic creative activities, and are predominantly associated with the right hemisphere. What’s more, It was found that the relationship between oxygen changes in right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (BA46) and the openness score are significantly positively correlated.we deduced that the free associative function of the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (BA46) may play an important role in this relationship. This finding provides the experimental basis for the establishment of theoretical framework for creative integrity.
