In this study, the SMI’s Hi-Speed eye tracker and the moving-mask technique are used to explore the perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading Mongol and Chinese.Experiment one Mongolian college students participate in experiment. It is a single factor experimental design. In this experiment there are six kinds visible window(6,9,12,15,18 and the entire line), and explore the perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading Mongol The main experimental results are as follows:the range of perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading Mongol was 8-12 characters.Experiment two:In the second experiment, Mongolian college students participate in experiment. It is a single factor experimental design. In this experiment there are eight kinds visible window(A0, D1, D2, D3, D4, U1D4, U2D4 whole line), and explore the perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading the vertical Chinese. The main experimental results are as fbllows:the range of perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading vertical Chinese was a range from one character to it’s above to 2-3 to it’s down on condition that the presentation unit is character.Experiment there:In the second experiment,Mongolian college students participate in experiment. It is a single factor experimental design. In this experiment there are eight kinds visible window (RO, Rl, R2, R3, R4, L1R4, L2R4 whole line), and explore the perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading the horizontal Chinese. The main experimental results are as follows:the range of perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading horizontal Chinese was a range from one character to it’s left to 2-3 to it’s right on condition that the presentation unit is character.According to the results and analysis of this study, the results were as follows:(1) The range of perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading Mongol was 8-12 characters.(2)The range of perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading vertical Chinese was a range from one character to it’s above to 2-3 to it’s down on condition that the presentation unit is character.(3)The range of perceptual span of Mongolian undergraduates in reading horizontal Chinese was a range from one character to it’s left to 2-3 to it’s right on condition that the presentation unit is character.(4) There are good reading eye movement indicators of Mongolian undergraduates in reading vertical Chinese, it show that behavior is influenced by reading habits.(5) Perception of Mongol is wider than the range of Chinese, mainly due to language proficiency and characteristics of language.Experimental material of the present study is easy to understand, the word is presented by the moving-mask technique and a word more showed every time. The study about the difficulty of the text, show of two-character words and other moving-mask technique will be improved and perfected during the further researches.
