On Subject Translation Of English-chinese Scientific Translation

With the development of science and technology and the frequent exchange with foreign countries, the translation of scientific and technological text becomes more and more important. There are many differences on the features and structures between English and Chinese, so many difficulties will be met in English-Chinese translation.Among them, subject translation is one of the difficulties. On the basis of translation of Search Engine Marketing,Inc.(Chapter 9), the report will show five situations about the subject translation of English-Chinese scientific translation, including translation of personal subjects, translation of impersonal subjects, structural adjustment of subjects,subject translation of passive sentences and translation of form subjects, and finally provide some methods and strategies on subject translation by analyzing some examples,e.g. the ellipsis of subjects, the conversion of appellation, the replacement of subjects with pronoun, the conversion between singular and plural, structural adjustment etc..The report is divided into four parts, including the description of translation project,the description of translation process, the translation of subject and case analysis and conclusion. In the first part, the background of the project, features of the project and client’s requirements will be described. In the second part, pre-translation work,translation process and after-translation work will be introduced. In the third part, basic information about subject translation, some examples and other problems and solutions will be discussed. At last, some strategies about subject translation and other achievements will be summarized.
