Research On Lacquered Decoration Of Modern Tea Utensil

Our country is the source of tea culture with the history of thousands of years. Lacquerware, as one of the great inventions of ancient China, has been developed over seven thousands of years, and the classic of which makes it always in people’s attentions. Lacquerware art is not only of beautiful shape, but also tinged with simplicity and elegance. The employment of lacquered tableware, drinking vessel and tea set undergoes a centuries-old history. Painted tea set could be either the utility in life or the adornments of artistic value.This paper studied the lacquer of the modern tea utensil, mainly taking the technology and decorativity of lacquer art as the longitudinal context. It summarized the present developmental status of lacquered tea utensil, i.e. low prevalence rate, difficulty of scaling up the production and separation from practicability, analyzed its developmental prospect and concluded its advantages as follows:(1) with materials chemically stable and capable of long-time preservation;(2) possessing good artistic expression and collection value;(3) being more environmental friendly;(4) meeting with the needs of the medium-high market of the tea ceremony.By analyzing the decorative art of the classic lacquered tea utensil, the decorative characteristics of the lacquered utensil were obtained as: color is the most straightforward technique of expression for the decorative art of the lacquered tea utensil; the decorative lines on the lacquered tea utensil constitute the basic language and main art form of the lacquered decoration; decorative pattern about the flowers, birds, landscape and people is one of the new forms to express the decoration of the lacquerwares in modern times.At last, the classical technique of lacquer painting was applied in the design for tea utensil. And through combining with the designed lacquered tea utensil, the technique of lacquered tea utensil was further presented and the communicating pathways between the classical art and modern life were explored.
