| God-Worshiping is commonly known as God-inquiring or immortal-worship. It is a folk sacrificial ceremony which has been long spread in Hakka area south of Jiangxi Province. In Hakka area south of Jiangxi Province, there are traditions that people always believe in the ghosts and witchcraft. So various ceremonies like worshiping the gods and ancestors, weddings and funerals, festivals and celebrations all are embodied with a local folk custom merged together with archaic Chinese rhyme in Central Plains and local aborigines.This paper takes the God-worshiping ceremony of Jiulong Mountain Guan-yin Temple in Anyuan County, south of Jiangxi Province as a case, and adopts the field investigation method to do a research on the God-worshiping ceremony of Jiulong Mountain Guan-yin Temple in Anyuan County as well as the music used in the ceremonies based on the musical anthropological research perspective and detailed recording processes of the ceremony. I did six field surveys to the God-worshiping ceremony of Jiulong Mountain Guan-yin Temple in Anyuan County, south of Jiangxi Province and took 3000 pictures of the God-worshiping ceremony. Besides, I recorded a scene video of the God-worshiping ceremony about 100 G. I also had a special interview to the directors, masters, incense masters, bandsman and Based on the musical anthropological perspective and detailed record the process, and by comparing the diachrony and synchronicity of the music associations’ skills inheritance, playing form, musical communicating ways, economic support and music using, this paper probes into the underlying reasons for the existence of the ceremony and its music. I think the diversity of the music using and adapting corresponding regulations in proper time is the way to survival of the music associations. By analyzing the ontology construction of the music, this paper revealed the inner links between the music and the ceremony and illustrates the music concepts of Hakka, and aesthetic ideas thus thinking that the decorating sounds in the ceremony music is a relatively stable way to diminution in the folk tradition music in Anyuan County.Finally, from the cultural anthropological perspective, I give an illustration for the cultural value of the God-worship ceremony and the ceremony music. And I think that Jiulong Mountain in Anyuan County in Hakka area is one of the ways of lord-god-worshiping in many kinds of many gods worshiping. how the music specially functions in the ceremony. I also find that the essential function of the God-worship ceremony music of Jiulong Mountain Guan-yin Temple in Anyuan County lies in its practicability including for communication functions, controlling functions, symbolic functions and promoting functions. And the God-worship ceremony itself has the functions to draw hearts close of the country people, adjust and control the conflict around the countries and emphasize the pecking order. |
