The comments on persons is the intrinsic phenomena in Chinese culture, and it has persisted in the history of China for a long time. This dissertation aims at the period from the end of Han Dynasty to Jin Dynasty, I put the emphasis on comments about persons from the official and the folk to the novel〈Shih-shuo hsin-yü〉. In order to explore the progress of changes in comments on persons deeply. I also study the factors such as history, culture and aesthetics.The introductory theory aims at demonstrating the purpose, meaning and method,analyzing the outcome of research that have get from. Meantime, I also write down the phenomenon of comments on persons before the end of Han Dynasty.The first chapter explores the basis of thought and society in comments on persons of Han Dynasty. I analyze the tradition of rumor, which came from the theory of poem and music, then I get the conclusion that what mentioned above lead to the development of comments on persons in the end of Han Dynasty. Meantime, the system of election in Han Dynasty led the recommendation letter to become the basis of comments on persons. In the end of Han Dynasty, the official criticized the claws of the government, then Guo Tai and Xu Shao became the representatives in that period of time.The second chapter explores the phenomena of comments in the period of Three Kingdoms, I put the Wei and Han Dynasty as the sample, Cao Cao performed the theory called “Xing-Ming”,which led the book〈Ren-wu-zhi〉of Liu Shao to appear.In Han Dynasty, Yang Xi wrote the article called〈Ji-han-fu-chen-zan〉, which made comments on the persons in the former period of history in Han Dynasty.The third chapter explores the comments on persons in Jin Dynasty. In western Jin Dynasty,〈Shan-gong-qi-shi 〉, which was written by Shan Tao, was the most famous at that time. In eastern Jin Dynasty,〈Shih-shuo hsin-yü〉, which was collected and written by Liu Yiqing, embraced a large amount of content about comments on persons. The former embodied the transition from utilitarianism to aesthetic nature,while the latter embodied the summit that nobody could reach it as follows.
