According to Peter Newmark and Katharian Reiss, an informative text is one of the three major types of texts. It features a great deal of information which can help readers have a better understanding of a certain field. It usually contains lots of terms and long sentences, which is a great challenge to Chinese translators. Therefore, they need to be guided by certain translation strategies and methods. The contents of the source text serve the research program called "Asia-Pacific Language Policy Study", taken by staffs of School of Foreign Languages, Southeast University. The source text is an academic paper about the study of Korean education policy and was published in Higher Education, an SSCI international journal. Bearing the features of informative text, it can be regarded as a lab report and contains lots of experimental methods, data, tables, figures and formula. Guided by communicative tranlastion strategies, this report explores the application of tranlastion strategies in exact practices, particularly in the aspects of terms, voices, long sentences, tables, figures and formula. This report can be devided into four chapters. The first chapter is a general introduction to the project, covering the the task and features of the English text, and an outline of preparations before the translation practice. The second chapter reviews the text classification theory and communicative translation strategies. The third chapter is a case study, looking into the translation methods of terms, passive voices, tables, figures and formula, long sentences and paragraphs. The fourth chapter summarizes the whole report, offering personal suggestions and pointing out the limits.
