In recent days, the cultural diversity has becoming convergent. It is worth thinking that how Chinese oil painting can show the unique oriental beauty-appreciation by using western painting skills. The author thought to maintaining Chinese oil painting’s local language system is an unstoppable trend. The most important thing to maintaining Chinese oil painting’s local language system is to enriching Chinese oil painting’s expression diversity. This article discussed Mr. Zhao Kaikun’s innovative expressing ways in his oil painting creation. His unique line expression is a typical personalization mark in Chinese freehand oil paintings, which has made contributions to the diversity of Chinese oil painting’s formal language.Zhao Kaikun’s painting style has a special kind of grand and marvelous aesthetic characteristics, which is based on the Northern China’s regional culture. This aesthetic characteristics made his paintings different from the artificial interior paintings. His paintings are hearty. Zhao Kaikun’s painting language’s formation should be influenced by Chinese painting’s aesthetic value-orientation. His freehand oil painting spirit is also showed by formal language: the abstract symbol lines which can mostly stand for oriental aesthetic are indispensable in his paintings. Zhao Kaikun’s subject matter are various, most of his paintings described the actual life of North-eastern China, landscape or nostalgic objects. The various subjects have one thing in common: the lines are the soul. In his paintings, no matter the lines are rough or elegant, splashing or kneading, they all show the subjects’ natural vigor. His flexible brushwork and white space give the lines life and tension.This article focuses on Zhao Kaikun’s applications of moving presence of lines. Study from the formation of his lines and painting style, how the creative thought consciousness and the culture background influenced his line style. Analyses from aesthetic principle,visual perception and schema to study and define Zhao Kaikun’s moving presence of lines. Then study the aesthetic characteristics formed by his applications of moving presence of lines. At last, it inspired the author’s thoughts about the diversity of contemporary Chinese oil painting’s formal language and the oil painting’s sinicization.The article will discuss in 5 chapters:Chapter 1: Explanations of the related noun conceptions.Chapter 2: Analyse the formation of Zhao Kaikun’s line application in his oil paintings, including the “Unity of Man and Nature” — a concept with ancient roots in Chinese thought, has influenced his aesthetic and painting style; the lines in children painting and Chinese Calligraphy influenced his line language, and the mentor-disciple relationships influence.Chapter 3: The moving presence of lines applications in Zhao Kaikun’s oil paintings. The explanations of the implication, and separate discussions of expressional characters between the brushwork, color and composition in Zhao Kaikun’s oil paintings.Chapter 4: The beauty of the moving presence of lines in Zhao Kaikun’s oil paintings. Mainly analyzed the lines role in his paintings’ image-building, the moving and static contrast of his lines made by “force”, and intangible artistic conception expression of his “presence out of presence”.Chapter 5: The inspirations of the diversity of oil painting’s formal languages., which is also an appeal to develop personalization mark language characteristics.
