Min opera, as China’s important intangible cultural heritage, is a treasure of the Chinese nation. It contains a unique cultural characteristics and artistic style. Now, its development worries people because it is gradually being swallowed by the rapid development of modern culture. Thus, it is necessary for Min opera to incorporate things with diverse nature. Animation is not only a culture, but also an art and a novel carrier. Animation, as the trend in today’s social and cultural development, should carry the new mission of spreading and developing traditional culture. After collecting a large amount of information and making surveys, it is found that Min opera and animation have integrating points and similarities in many aspects, providing possibility for their integration and development.Firstly, this paper analyzes the current development of Min opera and Animation, makes a summery about their survival problems and related reflection, and finds their similarity, individuality, and integrating points. Secondly, the author combines the essence of Min opera with the various elements of animation to make Min opera animation featuring a unique nature of Min opera. Finally, the author interprets Min opera through the carrier of animation, and shows the wide diversity of expression of Min opera to make better protection of this heritage.This paper is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 contains the purpose, meaning and ideas of the research and the innovations and difficulties in this research, building the basic framework of study. Chapter 2 makes definition of Fujian opera and animation. By exploring their development history, the author then analyzes their plight and makes reflection. The author finds that the Min opera and animation are interdependent and should learn from each other by comparative analysis. Chapter 3 extracts the characteristics in mask, costume, movement, stage art, spoken art, singing, accompanying music, musical instruments from Min opera, and then combine them with the animated head shape, character clothing, choreography, stage art, animation narration, chorus of animation music drama, animation background music, and animation sound design from animation to make analysis about their integrating points and similarities. Chapter 4 is based on the feasibility analysis of Chapter 3. This part further proposes new ideas of integration and development of Min opera and animation by combining the classic nature of Min with the interestingness of animation, the masks of Min opera with the personalized modeling of animation, simplification of Min opera with the diversification of animation, stylized action in Min opera with exaggerated action in animation, folk music in Min opera with popular music in animation. This paper takes the author’s own work- "Dream back to the source" as an example, which combines theory with practice to deepen the depth of the research purpose. Chapter 5 makes a summery of this research and expectations for the future.
