Study On Filial Piety In The Senior Dai’s Book Of Rites & Junior Dai’s Book Of Rites

Filial piety which is in construction of family rites played an important role in Pre-Qin and Qin-Han Dynasty. The Senior Dai’s Book of Rites and Junior Dai’s Book of Rites( LiangDai LiJi) have contained a variety of the Confucianists’ filial piety. In view of the theoretical bases of filial piety is family, the theory construction of filial and rite has an isomorphic relation. This paper discussed the matter from the angle of family rites, combined handed-down documents with unearthed documents, probed into the filial piety of LiangDai LiJi and revealed the meaning of family education.Firstly, LiangDai LiJi’s filial piety comes from the monogamy marriage, worship of ancestry, custom of honor and support for elders, it becomes major patriarchal ethics and morality under patriarchal clan system and ceremony system in Western Chou Dynasty, then the Pre-Qin Confucian scholars inherit and develop it in theory.Secondly, family rites contain filial piety whose show these aspects: maintaining parents in good mood and safeguarding their dignity through the rites of household maintenance; opposing funeral’s mourning damage over the rites; advocating to never forget to pay a debt of gratitude their ancestors and condense the clan through sacrifice rites; advocating the parents’ blood through marriage by wedding rites;inspiring descendant inherit and promote their ancestor’s feat through coming-of-age ceremony.Finally, the relation of filial and rite in LiangDai LiJi: In theory, the theory construction of filial and rite is same, then mix them together from fountainhead,connotation and function. In practice, family rites undertake the family education of filial piety and push its’ inheritance and development. The combinations of filial piety and family rite will benefits family education nowadays.
