During 1927 to 1935, the biggest revolutionary base area in history was built in the border region among Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong. It is called the central Soviet revolutionary base area. Because of the Government of KMT block policy to it, there was a lack of salt in this area what resulted in very serious consequences. This paper discusses the lack of salt in this area, the causes of the shortage and the steps taken by CPC to solve this problem during this period via the historical research technique.The paper’s structure is described as follow:The first part is about the problem originated, review of the studies to the problem of salt in the central Soviet revolutionary base area, and description of the mentality and structure of the paper.The second part introduces the situation of salt in this area before the block. It’s about the situation of official salt and illegal salt. On this basis, the paper summarizes the characteristics of salt’s transportation in this area before the block.The third part exams the results of the lack of salt. After the block, in a hand, the price scissors is bigger and bigger in the central Soviet revolutionary base area. There are some reasons why this happened, such as commercial crops can’t be transported to the market and people can’t get articles of daily uses which are important. In the other hand, the supply of salt is more and more difficult because the army and population are bigger so the need of salt increases. Many soldiers and residents are sick even dead because of the shortage of salt.The forth part analyzes the causes of the lack of salt. Firstly, most of salt in this area is get by the exchange of agricultural products and there is little salt in the markets. Secondly, the Government of KMT’s reformation to salt and block make the lack more serious. Besides, the population becoming bigger and businessmen’s forestall make the situation so bad that strongly acting on people’s daily life.The fifth part discusses the steps to resolve this problem by CPC and the results. CPC takes some steps to resolve the lack of salt, such as increasing the number of market, building processing plants and making nitrate. To increase the scale of supply of salt, CPC encourages the masses to transport salt and takes some polices to encourage salt suppliers. What is more, CPC decides to broaden the channel of transportation of salt and building foreign board of trade. Even more, to get more salt, CPC launches some battles. These steps make the situation easy.The last part is the conclusions. At the same time, the paper exams the relations among KMT, CPC and the masses.
