A Report On The Translation Of Asian American History And Culture: An Encyclopedia(The Taiwanese American Experience: History And Culture, The Thai American Experience: History And Culture)

Asian American History and Culture: An Encyclopedia, co-edited by Huping Ling and Allan W Austin, introduces thoroughly each group of Asian American people. This translation report analyzes the deployment of cohesion in translation, based on the data of the chapter of Taiwanese American.The report consists of four chapters. Chapter one introduces the source text and its two authors and shows the acquirements from publisher. Chapter two is about translation process description. The translator has done tremendous works before really beginning to translate. Chapter three is the key part of this translation report. In this chapter, the theory of Cohesion is elaborated. The translator analyzes the source texts based on this theory and shows the translation methods or skills he deploys in the translating process. Moreover, the difficulties the translator encounters during translation are presented in this chapter. The difficulties are long and complicated sentences, proper noun and culturally-loaded words, and political sensibility. The last chapter is a conclusive one.
