The objectives of this thesis are painting and image. The author does not demonstrate painting and image in terms of concept and functional value, because adequate researches have been done worldwide from these perspectives. This thesis works as an episodic summary of painting practice. To avoid a pure theoretical demonstration, the author selects specific examples to analyze the motivation, source of inspiration, selection of artistic form and aesthetic style, painting methods and experiment, as well as how to appreciate the works. Then the author put the relation between painting and image into the art history to elaborate that painting comes from the eyes, thoughts, spirit and hands, while image comes from the works that are explained by visual language. Nevertheless, this thesis doesn’t aim at distinguishing painting and image, nor stating their inseparable relations, or defining them. Painting is the only artistic form that this thesis mentions. Due to the limited range and depth of knowledge and level of practice, this thesis is the brief discussion. It intends to analyze the methods and purpose of "appreciate" as an action. It carries out furtherly specific discussion on "painterliness" and "nature of image" from perspectives of working process and completed result. Art is the thing that exists between painting and image---It is the viewpoint that this thesis attempts to convey; and here comes the topic of this thesis: "The Visible World of Visual Arts; The Unspeakable Connotations of Art medium".
