San yan er Pai yi xing is the representative of story-teller’s script in late Ming dynasty, which reflect a specific historical period of social style and spirit of the times. There are a lot of women remarriage phenomenon in the novel, shaping a large number of digamous women. Studying the reasons of women remarriage and background, not only can we understand women’s living conditions, but also get to know society of Ming dynasty.This thesis includes introduction, body and conclusion. The part of “Introduction” is mainly to make the research purpose and meaning, the research status.The part of “body” as the main part of this thesis is divided into four chapters:The first chapter define the remarriage, and summarize the characteristics of women’s remarriage from pre-Qin period to Ming dynasty. Women’s remarriage must have three conditions. Firstly, the women have married. Secondly, both sides of husband and wife have divorce. Thirdly, the husband has died. In the matriarchal period, women’s remarriage is in a state of confusion. From pre-qin period to the sui and tang dynasties, it present a trend of increasing. In the song yuan ming qing dynasties, it present a trend of declining,also present the ups and downs at the same time. The second chapter analysis the social background of women remarried in the Ming dynasty from several aspects, such as the "patriarchal" social reality, the development of commodity econmy and the emergence of social heresies. We should count up the number of remarried women in San yan er pai and yi xing, and have a simple classification, analyze the author’s attitude towards women remarry. The third chapter analyse the upper-and lower-class married women’s living conditions in San yan er Pai yi xing,from the family life, economic status, social interaction. The fourth chapter explore the reasons for women remarry. Some women remarry actively for life, love and sexual desire. Under the fetter of the husband,some women force to remarry. It is the author’s needs to design the bizarre story about remarry to achieve the purpose of selling.
