Yi wasone of nationalities which had long national tradition in Chinese history. It mainly distributed in southwest of China,and it had the largest population percentage in Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan Provinces. As one of branches of Yi, the conception of Yi who lived in Shuixi was not only inherited by their ancestors,but gradually emerged suchconception that belonged tothemselves. During Ming- Qing period, the Yi in Shuixi was influenced by the conceptionwhichthey passed from elder generationand it played a leading role in the specific social behavior.During Ming- Qing period, it includedthat “gods and ancestral worship”, “children desire”, “the pursuit of longevity” and “ positive reflection of Shuixisociety ” intraditional conceptionof Yi in Shuixi. The traditional conception of Yi in Shuixi, were both derived from the Yi ancestors,and reflected its unique timeliness, ethnic and social changes, as well as had great influence residents in the Shuixi society.From the time point of view, before the Ming and Qing dynasties, it already existed among “ worship ”, “ the conceptionof children”, and “numerology theory” in the ancestors of Yi. The conception of Yi in Shuixi was inherited the content and behavior which werebasis on the ancestors. However,it made specific reflection that stayed in “Ming and Qing period” by the “positive reflection of Shuixisociety”. In terms of ethnic group, the traditional conception of Yi showed the differences of ideas and beliefs withHan groups. The differences showed that the traditional conception of Yi in Shuixihadhad the unique propertywith other ethnicgroups. From the social changes, traditional conceptionofYi in Shuixireflected the changes of society during Ming and Qing period. At the same time, through the long history of development, the main conception of Yi also inevitably appeared the phenomenon of fusion. The fusion of main conception had great influence to the Yi and its society.With the time advancing, the traditional conception of Yi will have an effect to the society of Yi and have significant impact on the value orientation of Yi’ people.First of all, the traditional conceptionofYi not only guidedthe family and social activities, but the specific behavior ofYi’s people; Second, it leadedthe development of the society of Shuixiduring Ming-Qing period, embodied on two cores which are the“body’s soul” and “state ”. For the contemporary society ofYi, the traditional conception of Yi also plays a "ruler" role, it severely torture to the phenomenon that are “loss of faith” and “cultural fault”in the contemporary societyof Yi.
