Research Of The Postscripts In The Rare Books Of Middle And Late Tang Dynasty’s Literati’s Individual Collected Worksfrom The National Library Of China

Tang Dynasty is thedevelopment peak of Chinese ancient literature.Tang Dynasty’s literati left abundant works, and these works have been compiled into a set, which became precious fortune.Individual collection is the main way to hand down literary works,which produced many additional contents in the process.As a kind of these additional contents, postscript is full of research values.Academic community pay much attention to collecting and studying the postscripts in individual collection. But unexpectedly, postscripts in collected works of individual authors of Tang Dynastyhave not yet been sorted out systematically.The writer of this paper has sorted out these postscripts in the rare books of middle and late Tang Dynasty’s literati’s individual collected works from the National Library of China,and then has studied hard on these postscripts,which is in order to make academic community attach importance to this part of postscripts.This paper mainly has two aspects, one of which is the presentation of sorting out these postscripts in Tang Dynasty’s literati’s individual collected works,and another is the analyses of postscripts’ values, including literature value,literary value and the value of history of book. Literature valuefocuses on the analyses of edition,emendation and catalog. Through the analysis, we can know more about the edition information of Tang Dynasty’s literati’s individual collected works and philology.Literary value is about literary form and literary theory. As a literary form,postscript has its origin and has different traits in different times. Literary theoryis mainly about the evaluation of postscripts’ writers to Tang Dynasty’s literati or their works and the opinions of literary criticism in these postscripts. The value of history of bookcontains the bibliophiles’ views on book andhistorical materials about collecting books.There are various values of postscripts in Tang Dynasty’s literati’s individual collected works,and what this paper has expound is just a part of them.My ability is so limited that this paper has not deeply discussed on the related problems, which will be done in the future.
