A Comparative Study On Prefaces Of Rare Books In Flourishing Early Tang Dynasty Written By Authors Of Tang And Song Dynasties And Collected In China National Library

People of Tang Dynasty achieved a lot in the research of philology in the prefaces of works,but a few researchers started their study from the angle of literature.Based on the prefaces of rare books of flourishing early Tang Dynasty written by the authors of Tang and Song Dynasties and collected in China National Library,and through the comparative study on the prefaces of the works of flourishing early Tang Dynasty written by the authors of Tang and Song Dynasties,this paper intends to explore the reasons for its development and evolvement.The author of the paper believes that if we want to explore the reasons for its evolvement,we must carry out an important,profound and careful comparative study from such three aspects as writing style,concept of literary history,and literary criticism.The first chapter elaborates the works in flourishing early Tang Dynasty written by the authors of Tang and Song Dynasties,and the relevant sorting achievements on the prefaces of the works.The second chapter studies the changes of writing style in the prefaces of the works of flourishing early Tang Dynasty written by the authors of Tang and Song Dynasties.As one writing style,the prefaces of the works themselves possess the features of literature,and take on different characteristics in different dynasties.Through the comparative study on the features of writing style of the works in flourishing early Tang Dynasty written by the authors of Tang and Song Dynasties,we can conclude the writing style changes of the prefaces of the works.The changes consist of four parts: The first is the preface origin and the elaboration of its writing style concept;The second is that the scholars of Tang and Song Dynasties hold different understandings about preface because of the changes of historical perspectives;The third is to analyze the changes of preface writing style from the the degree of narration;The fourth is to analyze the changes of preface writing style from the the degree of argumentation.The third chapter is the study on the concept of literary history contained in the prefaces of the works written by the scholars in flourishing early Tang Dynasty.The concept of literary history of the authors for the prefaces is often shown in the preface elaboration.The reasons for the change of concept of literary history in one generation are found through comparing the concepts of literary history of the scholars in Tang and Song Dynasties.The elaboration mainly includes two aspects: The first one is that the prefaces show the concepts of literary history of the people in Tang Dynasty;The other one is that the prefaces also show the concepts of literary history of the people in Song Dynasty.The fourth chapter is comparing the changes of literary criticism concepts of the scholars in Tang and Song Dynasties.It's specifically divided into two parts: The first one is the literary criticism concept in the prefaces of the works of flourishing early Tang Dynasty written by the authors of Tang Dynasty;The other one is the literary criticism concept in the prefaces of the works of flourishing early Tang Dynasty written by the authors of Song Dynasty.Taking the prefaces of the works as research materials,the author of the paper makes a comparative study on the changes of literary criticism concepts of the scholars in Tang and Song Dynasties,which not only serves as the evidence to prove the research by the predecessors on the literary criticism of flourishing early Tang Dynasty,but also lays a solid foundation for the future generations to study the literature in Tang and Song Dynasties.The fifth chapter is to explore the reasons for the preface changes of the works from Tang to Song Dynasties.The reasons are mainly divided into three aspects: The first one is the spread and acceptance of the works of Tang Dynasty in Song Dynasty,which is specially elaborated in such two aspects as large-scale book-collection activities and pursuing the literature of Tang Dynasty by the people of Song Dynasty.The second one is the influence on the preface changes of the works resulting from the enhancement of the imperial examination and the formation of the social class of scholar-bureaucrats.The third one is the influence on the preface changes of the works resulting from the upsurge of new classical literature movement and the reviving of Confucianism.Through the research on the above content,first it can fill up the blank of studying the prefaces of the works by the people of Tang Dynasty from the angle of literature;second it can discover rules from development and evolvement,providing the relevant exemplifications for the research on the literature of Tang and Song Dynasties;third it can lay the foundation for further studying the prefaces of the works with the use of new materials,new methods and new thoughts.
