Emotions as important contents and formations in peoples’ daily life, it also regulate the behavioral patterns of people through various ways. In the Chinese traditional culture context of face saving, emotion emphasizing, relationship advocating, emotional problems have always become important research topics of philosophy, psychology, sociology such disciplines. Some researchers point out that emotion is a limited psychological resource, as a resource, people often process, code and estimate emotions psychologically, and these processes are emotional mental accounts. There are many mental accounting studies related to economic results, as well as time and relationships, but there are seldom studies on emotional mental accounts. Therefore, this research tries to explore the emotional life, present the specific frameworks of Chinese people in the perspective of mental accounting effects.Combined with documents research, open-ended investigation, depth interviews and brainstorming methods to summarize data, and construct internal dimensions of college students’ emotional mental accounts theoretically. Establish questionnaires of college students’ emotional mental accounts through item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis. And conduct characterization analysis to college students’ emotional mental accounts based on the formal questionnaires and carry on preliminary discussion on demographic related influencing factors. This research has concluded as follows:I. Through the analysis of literature review and qualitative research of college students’ emotional mental accounts, this paper comes to that college students’ emotional mental accounts have five sub-accounts as follows: attachment emotional mental account, belonging emotional mental account, tolerance emotional mental account, pride mental account and gratitude emotional mental account.II. College students have in dealing with emotional mental accounts effect(M±SD=3.90±0.534). And college students belong to emotional mental accounts is most prominent, there are more mental accounting budget(M±SD =4.11±0.444).But when dealing with gratitude emotion of college students mental accounting budget relatively vague(M±SD =3.18±0.946);Besides, the SD=0.946 of gratitude emotional mental account Shows that college students have great gap in this aspect.III. In view of each scale on the influence of demographic variables on college students emotional mental accounts, gender has significant influence on gratitude emotional mental account and tolerance emotional mental account(t pride =-2.968,p<0.01;t tolerance =-2.476, p<0.05), and women perform better than men significantly; Major has edge-correlated significant influence on gratitude emotional mental account(F(2,495)=2.937, P=0.054), and arts students perform better that science students; Grade has significant influence on belonging emotional mental account and gratitude emotional mental account(F(2,495)=2.751, P<0.05;F(2,495)=3.963,P<0.01), and freshmen perform best in belonging emotional mental account(M=3.60), and better than sophomores and junior students significantly(p<0.01, p<0.05), which have no obvious difference compare with graduate students(p=0.069).The research conclusion is important to understand college students’ emotional mental accounts, but the shortcomings of this research: I. Due to limited samples, this study is not to develop students’ emotional psychological account norm; II. Construction about emotional dimension of mental accounts for current research remains to be the most appropriate architecture theory. III. Research method mainly adopts self-reported questionnaire in the study of common methods possible variations. Research objects and research methods can be in-depth study in terms of follow-up studies.
