The Impact Of Implementation Intentions On Prospective Memory Under Different Cognitive Load

Prospective memory is a kind of memory that people remember in the future will be to complete the task or activity of, it means a foresight plan or behavior.Compared with retrospective memory, the particularity of prospective memory is that it points to the memory of the event that has not happened. implementation intention is a concept proposed by Gollwitzer in 1993, implementation intention is a forward-looking activity intention in the form of "if- then".Comparison prospective memory and implementation intentions, there are similarities, that is, they are is a kind of cognitive process which did not occur.The difference between prospective memory and implementation intentions is that implementation intention is a clear intention of making policy, and prospective memory is prefer to the ability of complete the prospective program. In view of those parts with similar,some early study pointed out that implementation intention to promote the completion of prospective memory tasks.In recent years, with a growing body of research on prospective memory to start considering the implementation intentions, but these study did not get a consistent conclusion. We also solve the problem in current study.In this study, two experiments were performed using the dual task paradigm, the experimental materials choose from "people’s Daily", we using E-Prime software programming two experiments,subjects were asked to perform the lexical decision task, the lexical decision task divided into background task and prospective memory task.Experiment 1: effects of intention on prospective memory under cognitive load, with 2(implementation:yes or no)x 4(cognitive load: none, low, medium and high) of the subjects design. In order to find the effects of implementation intention to promote prospective memory under cognitive load.Experiment 2: the effect of different implementation intention to promote prospective memory under cognitive load, with 3(implementation intentions: imagine + oral, oral+oral, imagination + imagine) x 4(cognitive load: none, low, medium, high) between subjects design, In order to find the effects of different formation of implementation intentions.Under the experimental conditions of this study, the conclusions can be obtained as follows:1: Implementation intentions can promote prospective memory,even under cognitive load.2: The way that Oral and imagination strengthen the different parts of the prospective memory,this formation of the intention perform the best effect in the process of extracting the prospective memory...
