At present, the research on the influencing factors of prospective memory commission errors is mainly focused on the retrieval process of PM intention, such as the cognitive resources of automatic processes and controlled processes. There are few studies on the effect of the encoding process on the prospective memory commission errors, and especially we don't know how is the effect of the effective encoding strategies—implementation intentions on the prospective memory commission errors under different cognitive loads? What is the cognitive mechanism for the implementation intentions on the effect of commission errors? How to use encoding strategies to reduce the emergece of commission errors? Therefore, experiment 1 examines the effect of encoding strategies and cognitive load on the prospective memory commission errors first. In experiment 2,we further study the cognitive mechanism for the implementation intentions and practice encoding on the effect of commission errors.Experiment 3 reduces the activation level of PM by increasing the the implementation intentions encoding to encode new PM task at the stage of completed PM intention, and examines the effective way to reduce the prospective memory commission errors.Through the four experiments, the following conclusions are obtained:(1)the effect of the implementation intentions encoding on the prospective memory commission errors is limited by the cognitive load.Under the low cognitive load, the implementation intentions encoding compared with the standard encoding is significantly increasing, and there is no significant difference between the two encoding strategies under the high cognitive load.(2)The cognitive mechanism for the implementation intentions on the effect of commission errors is more likely to controlled processes;(3)Increasing new PM task at the stage of completed PM intention and forming the new implementation intentions encoding can effectively reduce the effect of prospective memory commission errors.
