The Study On The System Of Compensation Of The Marine Oil Pollution In China

Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, China has made a rapiddevelopment in its offshore oil and gas industry and marine transportation. But at thesame time, Marine oil pollution incidents also occurred frequently and caused greatharm to its marine environment. And it is not conducive to the sustainabledevelopment of China’s marine economy. However, the system of the compensationof marine oil pollution is so imperfect that the related victims couldn’t get areasonable and adequate compensation in such cases. Therefore, this paper will try tomake an analysis about the current situation of the system, and discuss its necessity ofimprovement.There are four parts in the paper. The first part will discuss some theories aboutthe system of the compensation of marine oil pollution. The second part will analysethe current situation and development of our system, and point out the problems of thesystem. The third part will introduce three mode of the system in the internationalcommunity, and point out the mode that can be used by us. The last part will givesome appropriate measures to improve the system.Through the research, I found that the mode of domestic could be use to improveour system, and we can establish a low-level system according to our nationalconditions firstly, and then increase its level gradually with the international system.
