Transformation Of Land-lost Farmers’ Resettlement Community In The Context Of China’s Rapid Urbanization

A number of rural communities turned into urban area in the context of rapidurbanization and transition of society and economy, which lead to profound change ofspatial landscape, grassroots organization and behavior structure. How to deal with theserial problems in the process matters to the urbanization and community integration ofChina.Taking Dongyu Community as an example, the article uses participant observation,depth interview, questionnaire survey as well as related statistic data to investigateDongyu Community for long and serial research. Firstly, from village committee to urbanresidential committee, from village collective economic organizations to stockcooperative, the paper analyzes the transition of grassroots organization via thementioned two aspects. Secondly, it explores the change of spatial landscape, spatialconstruction and deep questions behind it, via three scales, namely whole space, publicspace and family space. Lastly, it analyzes and summarizes the spatial symbiosis anddifferentiation situation and problems. Then, the paper draws conclusions as follows:(1)Dongyu residential committee still maintains the features, economic function,personnel selection of rural committee, besides, community participation rates andidentity of grassroots remained low and passive.(2) The transition of spatial landscapereveals unequal allocation of community resources, incomplete transformation ofcommunity as well as spatial intelligence and livelihood strategy of the residents.(3)From Symbiosis Theory and field survey, it shows that spatial symbiosis anddifferentiation, passive rent-dependence and positive coping tactics coexist in Dongyu...
