Study On The Military Geographical Environment Of The Initial Establishment Of Revolutionary Base In Western Fujian

Military geography is a cross subject between military science and geography, the primary content of which contains geography problems in the military area and military applications in the geographic area, and to explore the relationship between military and geography is the core of its research. At the beginning of the agrarian revolutionary war, the revolutionary base of Western Fujian is an important component of the central revolutionary base. The unique military geographical environment of Western Fujian is a foundational base and backing early in the foundation of our troops and waging military struggles. And it plays an important impact on the formation of our army’s military strategic and tactical thinking. The paper carries out the study on geographical environment of Western Fujian in the early stages of the Agrarian Revolutionary War by modern geographical information technology means, using history as our guide and mirror, in order to better guide and develop military geography on modern war decision-making role.The main content of the article includes5aspects. Firstly, the paper researches the geographical and historical background during the foundation of the revolutionary base of Western Fujian through discussing about some important concepts such as "countryside revolutionary base" and "guerrilla warfare", and briefly discusses the history of its foundation progress. Secondly, the paper analyzes on geographical environment factor and other factors such as physical geographical elements, human geographic features and military geographic factors, sums up the factors influences on military operations, then makes the importance of quantitative analysis and evaluation on various levels and elements of the military activities affect by using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and presents a preliminary evaluation on the suitability of setting up revolutionary base in its environmental system by using the method of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. Thirdly, this paper studies on the space structure of its battlefield environment, and focuses on the analysis of regional interior point, line, surface elements of the structure and spatial combination form, based on the spatial accessibility condition of the line to the target channel road conditions, analyzed cities’military field-strength and hinterland, and emphasizes on the region spatial structure influences on military operations. Fouthly, in view of the major historical and practical significance of the Gutian Conference, the party’s ninth congress for the Fourth Army of the red Army that the meeting can be held in Gutian is analyzed based on the time of the historical and geographical conditions, and location problem on the place where the meeting can be held is described. In the end, the article summaries and combs some past wars in the revolutionary base of Western Fujian between red army and Kuomintang troops, uses analysis of geographical conditions to play the military command decision rule and the characteristic, in order to use the military activities reflect the function and influence of the military geographic environment in the revolutionary base of Western Fujian.The paper’s conclusions are as follow:(1) Geographical environment factor and environment system in Western Fujian is favourable to military struggle and setting up base areas for the red army, the role of the geographical condition is very outstanding, it is the geographical, military conditions of use correct analysis to make Western Fujian’s revolutionary base created to be successful.(2) The military geography spatial structure in Western Fujian is a typical parallel along the barrier structure, and it is very negative for Fourth Army of the Red Army. The enemy can rely on parallel barriers and layers of fortification.(3) The choice of the place where it can be held for the red Army’s Ninth Congress of the party is relevant to the Western Fujian military situation, and it is also highly relevant to the special geographical environment of Gutian.(4) Fourth Red Army’s military struggle in western Fujian is mainly with guerrilla war, and the preliminary experience of military struggle in Western Fujian is the important basis and the beginning of the formation of Mao Zedong military thought and our army’s strategic and tactical thought.The followings are the main contents and innovations of this article.(1) According to the level of the beneficial influence of military geographical environment on the operations of the Fourth Red Army at the beginning of the agrarian revolutionary war in Western Fujian, the article gives quantitative analysis and evaluation on the index weights of military geographic environmental factors by the analytic hierarchy process in the revolutionary base of Western Fujian. Based on the analysis results, using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, the paper carries out the appropriate evaluation on the military geographical environment as a whole for the revolutionary base areas.(2) With GIS software platform, using the cost weighted distance method based on the raster data, the article analyzes accessibility conditions of land transport for troop movement in the revolutionary base of Western Fujian. According to the filed intensity theory of the city military space, the paper expands the method of city filed intensity and the hinterland delineating, and analyzes the filed intensity of the city military space and the impact of military activities on the Fourth Red Army in the revolutionary base of Western Fujian. Using the method of overlay analysis, the paper makes a space allocation analysis of the place where the party’s ninth congress for the Fourth Army of the Red Army can be held.
