The Guangchang Campaign, namely the Guangchang Defense War,took place in the third stage of the fifth "encirclement and suppression" plan launched by the Nanjing Kuomintang government. It was a decisive battle for the Communist Party of China to resist the attack of the Kuomintang reactionaries in the Central Soviet Area.As the "North Gate" of the former Central Soviet Area,Guangchang owes long history, mountain forest resources are abundant and convenient waterway transportation. Also with its importance and special significance of military geographical position. Therefore, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party regard the gains and losses of Guangchang as the key to the success or failure of the fifth anti-encirclement and suppression campaign.By sorting out and analyzing Guangchang's political area, geographical environment and military geographical conditions,we can understand why Guangchang has become a hot area for both the Kuomintang and the Communist Party under the influence of its superior physical geography, military position and complex social environment. This paper intends to place the Guangchang Campaign in the perspective of historical military geography, and take the Ganzhu Campaign,Raojiabu Campaign,Changshengqiao Campaign and the Campaign near Guangchang City as the key battlefields to analyze. It further elaborates the dispatch situation, strategic deployment, tactical selection, marching process and army in the whole process of Guangchang Campaign, including topography, climate, traffic, population and local resources. The impact of compilation and other aspects.Under the new historical conditions and from the perspective of historical military geography,it provides a new perspective and method for widening the interpretation and research of the Guangchang Campaign.
