The Study On Hai Rui’s Incorrupt Government Thoughts And Political Practices

Incorrupt government thoughts are an important part of the political thoughts in ancient China. In feudal dynasty, the whole society was ruled by men,and constructing an incorrupt government was an effective way for the emperor to consolidate the domination and maintain the social order of the feudal dynasty. Under the nurturing of traditional Chinese culture, Hai Rui, one official of the Ming dynasty, conducted a series of political practices. His incorrupt government thoughts political practices not only had a great impact on the entire dynasty, but also provided extremely useful experiences and views for the future generations in government administration. As an influential honest and upright official, Hai Rui strengthen strictly personal moral cultivation internally and made great efforts to make great contributions to the dynasty externally. Therefore, he became a moral model for the peers and future generations, as well as a good example who pursued the incorrupt government thoughts consistently.Although Hai Rui did not have a specialized discourse about the incorrupt government thoughts, according to his life story and poetry, letters, and other writing memorials, we can also find out the skeleton of his incorrupt government thoughts clearly. According to studying his writings, letters, and referring his life stories and thoughts of other scholars, combining with my own existing stock of knowledge and research capacity, this paper mainly make an overall summary and evaluation about Hai Rui’s incorrupt government thoughts and political practices through four parts. The specific structural framework and contents are arranged as the following:The first part is introduction, primarily accounts for these contents:study background and significance of the theme, research status of home and abroad, research methods adopted by the paper, difficult and innovative points in the thesis writing process. The second part is the main part of the paper. Chapter two mainly illustrates the main sources of Hai Rui’s incorrupt government thoughts and political practices, including four aspects:profound knowledge of traditional culture, inheriting and carrying forward Confucian culture which advocate the idea "Internal Sage and External Emperor", absorbing the essence of Wang Yang ming’s heart-mind theory, his personal character traits which don’t afraid of power and touch corruption. Each aspect has its own specific performance.
