Research On Relationship Between National Happiness Index And Social Justice

Recently, building a harmonious socialist society has become a hot topic. To achieve social equity and justice in the process of building a harmonious socialist society is the most important problem to be solved. Therefore, social justice also gradually draws the whole society’s attention. How to measure and evaluate the social equity? After consulting lots of literature, we found that the study on social equity is relatively less at home and abroad. And most of the relative study is still theoretical research. Similarly, National Happiness Index(NHI) has attracted more and more people’s attention recently. How to measure a NHI has become a new research topic. Many scholars at home and abroad have conducted exhaustive researches on it. However, there is still no acknowledged measure. Currently, there is a simple formula to be used to compute NHI momentarily.This paper tries to build an evaluation index system of social equity to objectively measure social equity, and analyze the reasons and influencing factors of its variation, combined with national conditions and social changes. This paper also studies the relationship between social equity and NHI.Firstly, we determine the evaluation index system of social equity, collect data between2002and2011, have the data standardized and compute each index weight by using information entropy. Then, we screen the initial index by using correlation analysis method and keep13indicators finally. These13indicators are classified as the following three categories:starting point equity, process equity and outcome equity. We compute the social equity by using gray relative analysis method and make evaluation and analysis based on the real situation in China. For further study, we classify these13indicators by using ward hierarchical clustering method, and analyze from these three aspects:economic factors, social factors and population factors. Also, we compute NHI between2002and2011by using a simple formula and analyze the relationship between social equity and NHI. Finally, we give some advices and suggestions about improving social equity and NHI.The innovation of this paper lies in:it tries to state social equity by math model, express social equity in digital form and analyze and explain reasons and influencing factors of its variation, combined with national conditions and social changes. In addition, in order to more intuitive analysis of the reasons for the variation in the social equity, the paper classifies the index by using Ward hierarchical clustering method, and analyzes it from three aspects:economic factors, social factors and population factors. Finally, the paper analyzes the relationship between social equity and NHI. Meanwhile, the paper gives some advice on improving NHI and social equity combined with national policy and current social situation.
