The E-government website is an important way for people to get information from the government. However, with the rapid development of technology and tremendous growth of the websites, quite a lot of hackers take advantage of the security flaws and tamper the files, which has lead to devastating effect on the public. In the face of the growing risk, to guarantee the integrity of the website files becomes more and more important. The security tools have to be used for the files stored in the server. This paper analyzes both advantages and disadvantages of different security tools according to the current application situation. To resolve the problem of low efficiency when applying current security tools to the file integrity checking of E-government websites, this paper proposes a file integrity checking system based on CityHash under UNIX and describes the system’s overall architecture and implementation. The characteristics and advantages of CityHash are summarized and analyzed. The system uses CityHash to generate each file’s hash code. Performance analysis uses the avalanche test and speed comparison to prove its feasibility and advantage on speed under64-bit operating system. Implementing and applying the system to E-government websites helps the administrator to find out the tampered files rapidly and reduce the risk.
