Exploration Of The Democratic Thoughts Of Deng Xiaoping

The democratic construction has been going through difficulties since theestablishment of China. After the Cultural Revolution, Deng Xiaoping, as the chief architect ofChina’s reform and opening and modernization, has been rationally thinking about the path ofChina’s democratic construction, starts the great practice of combining political reform anddemocratization. Regarding third plenary session of the11thcentral committee as a turningpoint, Deng Xiaoping leads China’s democratic construction from surface to the depth,deepens and expends democracy from both connotation and denotation, designs scientificallyon specific democratic institutions and mechanisms, Continuously innovate democracy style,further refines and carry out the people’s democratic rights, expands democracy from politicsto economic and cultural fields and finally build up a logical speculative, muti-dimensional、stereoscopic and cross ideological systemThroughout the entire democratic ideological system of Deng Xiaoping, we can findpracticality and innovation are two main characteristic of democratic thoughts of DengXiaoping. He states that democratic construction must be on the bases of China’s practicalconditions and changing realities when government draw democratic blueprint of China, andensure that the democratic construction is processed safely and orderly. Adhering to thisthought, Deng Xiaoping raise a series of concepts of democratic development with Chinesecharacteristics, he designs specific path of democratic practice under direction of thisdemocratic thought, leading a big step of democratic construction for China. On the otherhand, while inheriting wisdom from predecessors, he explores the innovation and evolution ofdemocracy from both theoretical and institutional aspect with situation of country and world.His democratic thoughts follow with democratic thoughts of Marx、Lenin and Mao Zedong,and advance with the times. It plays the role as lighthouse and beacon for us to continuedeeping the subject of democratic construction, improve socialist modernization and politicalcivilization in the new period. Based on this thought, this paper seeks for a multi-angle, multi-dimensional analysis onDeng Xiaoping’s democratic ideas. The purpose is to analyze the overall framework andtheoretical features and the important role for China‘s democracy building of DengXiaoping’s democratic ideas.
