The Value Research On Ethical Thought By Mencius On The Base Of Contemporary Moral Crisis

As an important category of people’s ideology, morality plays an important guiding role in both the trend of possible behaviors and the judgment of done behaviors. Along with the deepening of reform and opening-up, China’s economy has made a great development. However, social morality is showing "spasm" type of atrophy and it is increasingly becoming an obstacle of economic and social development. Society moral dilemma is not only the moral issues of attracting much concern but also one of the important social problems.People who abide something must be awed. Based on the huge change of economic and social environment, moral awe which is the inner moral belief and faith is stored in people’s heart is gradually fading. The fearless heart causes unlimited behavior, however, arbitrary act further exacerbate the social morality. By self-reflect, how could a state about ceremonies of civilization go unchecked?As is known to all, the contemporary human moral philosophy has a deep effect on China’s traditional ethical thought. Especially, it is influenced by Confucianism which ruled the culture more than two thousand years. While ignoring the deeper factors of moral cultural belief, people’s understanding of ethical dilemma is always based on the background of the changes on the level of value caused by the reform and opening up for a long time. It is only the inner belief that means people’s moral concept of "soul" and "root".Therefore, the interpretation and question of contemporary moral dilemma should treat the restoring people’s moral belief as the beginning and fundamental. However, in order to restore the moral belief, we should have a returning which inherits in a critical way to the old tradition, to moral philosophy of Confucianism, to Mencius which possesses relatively completed ethical thought. In the foundation of analyzing the deep relationship about ethical thought by Mencius and contemporary moral crisis, we should tap the deep value of ethical thought by Mencius. It can provide the feasible path of reference for the interpretation and question of contemporary moral dilemma.In this paper, the main structure is divided into three parts:introductory theory, text and conclusion. Besides, the main text includes four chapters.The part of introductory theory mainly introduces the reason of topic, the research significance, Internal and overseas research actuality and ideas and methods of studying.The first part of the text emphatically analyzes the manifestations of contemporary moral dilemma on the basis of definition of moral dilemma. In addition, the content makes a reasonable position on how to treat contemporary moral dilemma.The second chapter of the text, starting from position Mencius ethics in the Confucian ethics, discusses the basis of Mencius ethics thought-theory of original goodness of human nature, and then conducts a detailed analysis about Mencius ethics from political ethics, economic ethics, family ethics, social ethics and ecological ethics.The third chapter of the text, the core contents of the paper, focuses on making an explanation that the relationship between Mencius ethics and contemporary moral dilemma on the basis of previous two chapters. The part which is based on the contemporary social life change illuminates Mencius ethics advantages, defects and shortcomings in theory. The paper aims at digging out its positive significance for the interpretation and question of contemporary moral dilemma.The fourth chapter of the text is mainly based on the chapter Ⅲ discussing how to refer and develop the positive and negative value of ethical thought by Mencius. Thus enhancing people’s awareness and self-confidence to Chinese traditional culture, remodeling inner moral faith and belief, regaining inner "soul" and "root" and achieving the ultimate goal of relieving the moral dilemma, the value makes a significant effect.The conclusion shows that criticizing, inheriting and promoting the fine cultural traditions and putting forth effort to build the fine traditional cultural heritage system. It is an important means of rationality and validity of comprehensively improving ideological and moral qualities and constructing both socialist morality and spiritual civilization.
