Youth culture is a kind of subculture and group culture as well as the product whenhuman society develops to a particular historical stage. As a unique social group and force forsocial reform, the young play an important part in social reform and development as well asthe spread and regeneration of social culture. As the overall reflection of values, way ofsurvival, way of life and way of act of the young, youth culture determines the survival anddevelopment of the young and the development of the whole society with its condition andproperties.Ever since the founding of the new China, Chinese youth culture has experienced adeveloping process, during which there presents a positive progress despite twists and turns.In the30years since the reform and opening-up policy, in particular, greatly profoundchanges have taken place in Chinese youth culture, some worrying and some encouraging. Inview of the reality we can deeply feel how youth culture accepts, fits and interacts with themainstream culture though alienation also exists. On the basis of scientific evaluation ofcontemporary youth culture, harmony between youth culture and modern scientific andtechnological development as well as the requirements of the time, consistency with thedirection of youth development as well as conformity to the core value system of socialism,we shall guide youth culture development with advanced culture, give full play to the young,build youth culture, promote the development of youth culture with care and service, integratethe strength of household, school and the society so as to overcome the deviation of youthculture from the mainstream culture and China’s social development and progress, promotethe development and sublimation of youth culture, guide contemporary young people todevote their youth and positive energy to achieve the great dream of rejuvenation of theChinese nation.
