Experiencing the long-term historical accumulation and upgrating, the spirit of Chinesenation, an advanced spirit, has inherently motivated and developed the Chinese nation. It hasshaped a great ethnic spirit of unity, peace loving, diligence and brave, and unremittinglyself-improvement.Based on the theory of Marxism and the elite of Chinese traditional spirit, this paperadopts many methods such as literature analysis, historical perspective, theory with practiceand inductive synthesis to study and research the Chinese ethnic spirit. First and foremost, thispaper identifies the Chinese ethnic spirit as the combination of patriotism, unity, peace lovingas well as the spirit of continuous self-renewal, tolerance and harmony, quality-emphesising,and the idea of struggling hard amid difficulties, diligence and simplicity, and filial piety. Itreveals the tremendous impact the thousands of years’ Chinese ethnic spirit has made on theprocess of Chinese modernization. The Chinese ethnic spirit which should be propagated andcultivated is the extremely strategic mission to the construction of Chinese advanced culture.Furthermore, this paper illustrates the innovation and development of Chinese ethnic spirit.On the basis of inheriting the traditional Chinese spirit and establishment of the traditionalnational spirit, new meanings have been given to form a number of new national spirit formthe rich characteristics of the times such as the spirit of the war to resist U.S. aggression andaid Korea, the spirit of Daqing, the Lei Feng spirit, and the spirit of "bombs and one satellite".Since The Third Plenary Session of the11th Central Committee, the Chinese people, hasproduced the spirit of emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts, flood-fighting,manned spaceflight, reform and innovation in the new era of national spirit through their ownpractice. Again, this part analyzes the living space and the developmental opportunity of thecontemporary spirit of Chinese nation. In terms of market economy, globalization, and thedevelopment of science and technology, this paper puts forward new point of view, tries tofind out the spirit of the Chinese nationroad of development suited to the characteristics ofmodern times.
