Since the reform and opening-up, the domestic urbanization has experienced adevelopment process of low starting points and fast speed with the accelerating ofindustrialization process. We took about30years to go through the urbanizationprocess that the western countries took nearly a hundred years with remarkableachievements.The rapid expansion of urbanization improves the efficiency ofallocation of urban and rural labor resources, drives the steady and fast growth ofnational economy and promotes profound changes of social structure. Besides, thephenomenon of blind pursuit of rapid economic growth and ignoring humandevelopment also appears in the urbanization process, which leads to the result thatthe purposes and dynamic mechanism of urbanization development deviatepeople-orientation. Therefore, the central working conference of urbanization stressedthat the development of urbanization should respect the law of development,ultimately, is to promote the people-oriented of urbanization, to shape the future ohChina.The implementation of urbanization in China is an inevitable selection for itadheres to and utilizes Marxist theory to guide practice, as is in line with the law ofmodernization revealed by Marx and Engels and agrees with the basic spirit ofMarxist pushing forward the growth of productivity and the overall growth of ahuman being. It reflects the objective requirements of the real condition in China.Thepeople-oriented urbanization helps to ease the contradictions among the people,promote the sustaining stability of the society and sound development of economy,and solve the problems brought by traditional urbanization.Insisting on people first, we should stick to the rules of adjusting measures tolocal conditions, sustainable development, balancing urban and rural development andbeing progressive. we should transform the development patterns of urbanization playthe market-oriented role and pay attention to the protection and inheritance oftraditional culture in the development process of urbanizationkeeping breaking the institutional obstacles that hinder urbanizationdevelopment. The urban and rural development and industrial development should be balanced and the sustainable and sound development of urbanization should bepromoted by relying on science and technology support and management innovation.
