Study on Sinicization of Marxism need to dig the ideological resourceswhich are still have great significance to the contemporary China, the civilsociety theory is one of the resources.Marx’s civil society theory has a long historical origin, and he put forwardshis civil society theory on the basis of Traditional civil society theory andHagel’s civil society theory. Marx have studied the relationship between civilsociety and political state, and he believed that the civil society determines thepolitical state; Marx have pointed out that the essence of the civil society is therelationship between material exchanges, commodity economy’s growth anddevelopment is the basis for the existence of civil society; Marx have alsorevealed the alienation phenomenon in the civil society, and he believed that Anideal society which can make everyone realize free and comprehensivedevelopment must be established to surmounted the civil society. How to understand and handle the relationship between government andsociety has become an important issue in contemporary China which is in theprocess of modernization. The relationship between government and society hasbeen stated in a high degree of coincidence for a long time and formed a unityrelationship model after the foundation of the People’s Republic of China. Thisrelationship model shows a series of shortcomings in the process of actualoperation, for example the unreasonable location of the government and theinhibits to the development of social organizations. With the Reform andOpening-up policy getting deeper, and the proposing of the concept of"separation of society and government state", a profound transformation havetaken place in the relationship between government and society. Marx’s theoryof civil society has important ideological values to promote the "separation ofgovernment and society" in following aspects: the perfection of the socialistmarket economy, the transformation of government functions, the developmentof the social organizations and the effective interaction between government andsociety.
