Women’s suffrage is the integrated part of civil and political rights,important basis of social development of a country, as well as an significant part for a government to carry forward coordinated and sustainable development of society. Even though the women’s suffrage was determined by China’s Constitution and laws,female population in China have been in a "silent" state for a long time in China’s politics severely underrepresented in national legislation, policy-making, law enforcement and other public affairs, which led to the limitation for women groups’ participation in society and restriction of social development.For the purpose of improvment of women’s status and real equality between men and women, modern women’s suffrage in China was intensively studied in this research from the perspective of Gender Theory.In Chapter one, gender, gender perspective and women’s suffrage were difined and the meaning of this research of China’s women’s suffrage from gender perspective was illustrated. This came to conclusion that it is helpful for legal issues of gender with a brand new thinking pattern and revealing the deep-seated reasons of gender inequality to introduce gender perspective research into the field of law which substantially benefit the theoretical study of women and protection of women’s rights.In Chapter two,with the help of statistic and legislative practice analysis,current status of China’s women’s suffrage enforcement was summarized and the following problems were pointed out:single legal level of women’s suffrage; lack of maneuverability of law; sex discrimination in law;the degree of law realization is not ideal;China’s present laws and regulations are not in line with international ones.In Chapter three,from the perspective of social gender theory,social structural causes which led to the problems above was deeply explored. These causes are:construction of law;understanding of the role of men and women themselves;public opinion was influenced by traditional gender culture;lack of neutual,impartial and correct gender awareness and social evaluation system;gender blind in policy regime inadequate facilities;lack of women’s economic status;barriers to women;s own and gender inequality in the state suffrage.In Chapter four,the last chapter, several forms of women’s suffrage realization were explored with the basis of analysis of the causes to the problems above.There forms include multi level legislation;adoption of gender-sensitive legislation technology;specification of principles of the Constitution ans laws; creation of gender and cultural environment as well as effective sopporting implementation system;focus on domestic and international laws.
